Church Planting Worldwide  (#400400)

Global Ministries is working in collaboration with church leaders across the world to plant 400 churches by the end of this year. It's an ambitious goal, but with God's help we have already planted more than 350 congregations in locations such as Laos, Vietnam, Cameroon, Russia, Honduras, and several other countries. We call these areas Mission Initiatives.

Mission Initiatives are unique in many ways, but mostly because they are in places where The United Methodist Church is new to the population. For example, we have only been present in Thailand for the last five years. The Thai people are just getting to know United Methodists; even Christianity is relatively new to them. In all of the places where we are planting the church, people are asking, "Who are the United Methodists?" This question has opened the door for us to share the gospel through word and deed.

Whether we are planting churches in Asia, Africa, Latin America, or Eastern Europe, the Good News of Jesus Christ is transforming lives. Global Ministries is empowering young churches as they engage in works of piety and mercy. This is a historic moment and The United Methodist Church is experiencing rapid growth outside the United States. You can be a part of this movement by supporting and learning from these vibrant congregations through a strategic partnership facilitated by the In Mission Together program.

The In Mission Together program fosters church planting abroad by developing partnerships. A partnership covenant is created between the new church plant overseas and a partner in the US (individuals, churches, districts, conferences, or others), which encourages mutuality and empowerment for both. Partners are transformed and energized by this faith-building experience through the sharing of their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness in mission together. The 400 Fund is the financial tool that supports evangelists and pastors, congregations and outreach teams as they share the gospel with new converts and grow the church worldwide. One hundred percent of all funds are designated for developing new churches and their ministries.

  1. Anonymous Says: Dear Beloved in Christ Hearty greeting in the name of our Jesus. I want to put the following few words for your kind consideration and prayer. My parents are Hindus (non-Christian). In India there are many man made Gods. Beaing a Hindu after my birth my father approached one astrologer to know about my future. That astrologer told him that if I live my father may die, So as per the advice of that person, my father sold me to a poor pastor by the mediation of a nurse. So my life began in a Christian home, These Pastor is a man of God but a poor man. He use to treat me as his begotten son and I remember the life of Joseph in the old testament. My new parents gave me, education, but suffered for food many times. My father is having a poor congregation. We use to take food from the offering in the Church. To our bad-luck all the church members are daily labor in stone quarry. So food-less sleep became our bit in our daily life. But Satan working more vehemently and my mother slept in peace with blood-cancer on 5th June 1998 .My father was did in lorry extent on 2005 may 8th. Through we are encircled with bare-stomach; our Lord has not left us alone. My church people sent me to study in Bible college. I finished my B.Th course of 4 years, after training I was married with a Godly minded girl(name : Rachel) on 27th Jan 2005, I had two children (First son name Joy Solomon, second son name Manos) . Aurally with the faith on Jesus I am preaching the word of Jesus as per my vision and call from God. I never tried for a Job. I am interest to preach the word from my child-hood and miraculously my God is using me as His good vessel. I know that my God who called is a trustworthy. He is not un-justice (Heb 6:10) We are living only by the verse. I treat you as my spiritual brothers and requesting you to pray for me. Every day in the morning I am praying for you all. May God bless you all. I need your fervent prayers. Heb 13:21= Make you perfect in every good work to his will working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight through Jesus Christ to who, be glory for ever and ever, Amen. Heb 13:16= But to do Good and to communicate forget not; for with such sacrifices, God is well pleased Your beloved brother in Christ. Pastor M. 3. Tony Says: We had our In Mission Together Partnership Roundtable event for Senegal the last weekend of September. All involved were impressed with the exchange via Skype of worship time and a discussion of the 50/50 Partnership approach between our United States Partners and the Senegal Mission folks. The host church Skyped with the missionaries in Senegal during their Sunday morning worship time in Wisconsin to get a first-hand invitation to be part of the event - wonderful to see and hear live immediately from so far away as Senegal/Wisconsin. 4. Greg Gelzinnis Says: It is so gratifying as the new IMT Partnership Coordinator for the Country of Honduras to see the GREAT value of our "partnerships". I had the honor of delivering the Covenant Agreements to our 5 Honduran Partners this summer and seeing their faces and hearing their encouragement as we lifted up their gifts and graces and challenged them to join with us so that we might "do ministry together" with them...NOT just TOO THEM. It was lifechanging for me...and I believe it was likewise for my Brothers and Sisters in Honduras. May God continue to BLESS this work! October 17th 2012 at 11:10 AM
  5. David Says: In previous years the interaction between ministry groups in different countries was totally dependent on travel. One feature of the In Mission Together program teaches us how to expand our involvement with others by using telecommunication tools that are free and very effective. A casusal conversation with a pastor or church leader in another country is easy. The same can be said of combined worship services or Bible study. Some travel is still necessary, but the benefit of a weekly exchange on video is phenomenal. Contact one of the IMT Partnership coordinators for more information. October 17th 2012 at 09:10 AM
  6. Dick Says: As a IMT Partnership coordinator for many years, I have seen so many churches on both sides of the ocean benefit from these IMT partnerships. Personal and congregational relationships turn into LOVE. Two examples; last Sunday, two partners shared Communion via SKYPE on world wide communion Sunday, and last year two other partners shared Thanksgiving dinner together over the internet. 7. Virginia Says: We do enjoy our sister church in the Czech Republic and are so glad we have had this opportunity. I would encourage anyone who does not yet have a global church to get one. October 15th 2012 at 10:10 PM
