Young Adult Mission Service Program (#13105Z)

Young adult mission opportunities through the General Board of Global Ministries include the US-2 and Mission Intern programs, which allow young people to be in service to the church. Young adults in the US-2 program serve for two years in a domestic, two-year, faith-and-justice-based placement site, learning to examine prevalent current issues through a theological lens. Mission Interns serve in a three-year program divided into an 18-month international work/study placement and an 18-month action/education assignment in their own country. It is an opportunity for young people to hear the prophetic voice of communities and individuals around the world who are working for systemic change, and to apply that experiential learning to their home context.

Global Ministries also educates future leaders about the mission work and giving channels of The United Methodist Church through the B1 Campaign. B1 is a 24-hour fasting campaign that educates youth and young adults about the systemic issues sustaining poverty in the world, while also raising funds for Advance mission projects addressing these issues worldwide.

Global Ministries’ Global Justice Volunteers program is a short-term service opportunity for young adults. Participants are from all over the world, serve all over the world, and range in age from 18 to 30. Small teams of volunteers spend 10 weeks, between June and August, learning and working alongside local communities, exploring the role and responsibility of the church to engage in mission, ministry, and service that seeks to transform our world into a more just place.
